Due to some reason, it is beginning to feel like like human beings have got some kind of addiction to the ‘addiction’ itself. Almost each of seemingly normal person is now an addict to something. In control, these things may be very useful and beneficial inspite of being dangerous. For example, being tech savvy is good but today there are many who are addicts to new technological gadgets and gizmos. They would buy any device that has even the most distant association with their likable device. That is why there is such a demand for a MacBook Replacement screen and iPad Parts today. But, another addiction that is involved with the new technology is Video game addiction.
From the very first arcade game of Pacman to the most real-life 3D games, video games are hard to resist by people of all age. Once you have the joy pad in your hands, it is impossible to control your desire to keep on playing. but, for few individuals this desire can change into an extreme case of addiction. There are many reported cases of people who have constantly spent more than three days playing their favorite video game. However, these are not the worst cases in this aspect. There are many cases when video games have lead to actual deaths. There always has been a controversy regarding the sadistic and aggressive nature of most action games. According to researchers, killing people fiercely in the virtual world produces insensitivity in the players and they can possibly attempt such violence in real life. Let us take a look at few of the most awful real deaths that are related to video games.
Only recently, a Korean couple was convicted by the police after their three month old infant daughter died due to dehydration and malnourishment. The couple was charged as addicted to a MMO game which they used to play more than twelve hours a day. The couple neglected the needs of their baby while raising a virtual baby in the game which was found to be completely healthy, well fed and happy.
One very well known rather than criticized death is related to an online Multi-player strategy game in which a player lent his virtual sword to his fellow player. The borrower player sold the borrowed sword for a good amount of money. The man who actually owned the sword couldn’t find any other virtual weapon left so he planned to use an actual knife to stab his dishonest friend to death.
A young thirteen year old boy droped himself off a twenty four-story apartment after being irresistibly obsessed by an online multiplayer game and his fellow gamers (warriors). He left a note which was narrated from his virtual warrior’s point of view and he wrote that he couldn’t wait to meet his gaming friends (the virtual characters) and therefore to go to the afterworld. Other than these cases, there are many incidents of death because of video games for example, the addicts passed away because of an insufficient diet or a sudden hypertension.
